A working convention venue needed overhead infrastructure that could absorb every touring brief, every load schedule, every cue list, without re-engineering between shows.

Cairns Convention Centre runs a Great Hall that hosts plenary sessions one week, touring concerts the next, and full-scale productions the week after. Every format brings its own load schedule, its own cue list, its own riggers. The venue needed overhead infrastructure that could absorb all of it, without re-engineering between shows.
TSA was engaged to design and deliver the complete system: hoist array, truss, control desk, fibre network, and the operator training that lets venue staff drive it on their own terms. One scope. One point of accountability. From engineering drawings to commissioned, certified, hands-on.
The design started with the load schedule. 36 EXE Rise hoists, fitted with encoders and load cells, mapped to the Great Hall grid for positioning and real-time monitoring. Five-chord box truss specified for the long spans, with redundancy and structural margins set for the heaviest brief the venue takes.
Raynok integration sat at the centre of the design. One console, fibre-networked to power packs and network nodes around the room. Single source of truth for every axis on the grid.
The full array went in around the venue's booked calendar. 36 axes of EXE Rise, 42 metres of five-chord box truss, fibre runs to the network nodes, and the power packs that drive them.
TSA's in-house teams handled the rigging, the fibre, and the controls integration as one job. No subcontracted handovers. No interface gaps between trades.
Every axis was loaded, tested, and verified against the engineered figures. Load-cell readings calibrated against the encoders. The Raynok console was commissioned end to end against the first cue list to prove the signal path.
Operator training followed. Venue staff worked the desk with TSA technicians on the floor, learning the system on the same hardware they will run for years. Documentation went into the venue's safety records on the day.
Cairns Convention Centre now runs overhead rigging as a single integrated system. Hoists, truss, control, monitoring, and the operator knowledge to drive it sit under the venue's roof, with TSA on the line for ongoing service and supply.
The brief that arrives next week, whatever it is, can be loaded into the same desk by the same crew. The infrastructure is no longer the variable.
