This is a creative workshop, not a commodity fabricator. Set Construction draws carpentry, engineering and automation, metal fabrication, scenic painting and set electrics together under one roof, so the build, the movement and the finish are coordinated rather than handed between shops. We engineer scenery to move with your automation and rigging, finish it to read at close audience proximity, and hand it over load-in-ready, with the drafting and engineering coordination behind it.
Built in-house since 1979 and toured nationally, our Adelaide shop is the former Adelaide Festival Centre Workshop - a creative shop set up for high-scope, bespoke builds, not commodity runs. Concept to strike, with rigging and soft goods available around the build through the Sets, Scenery & Props group, and with scenery also built under the Show Works name, now a TSA-owned brand and set out on the Show Works site. Building scenery since 1979 is a long lesson in what survives a run and what quietly comes apart in transit, and every set that leaves here is built on the right side of that line.

Set Construction is a coordinated build, not a stack of parts. You get scenery fabricated across multiple materials, engineered to move, finished to read up close, and handed over load-in-ready - with the drafting and engineering coordination behind it.
Engineered for the run it is built for.
Touring is the work we have done most of - builds engineered for repeatability, transport efficiency and rapid deployment across venues. Permanent and long-run installs are designed to the realities of sustained use: duty cycle, serviceable access and finishes that hold up, night after night.
We build the scenic element and the automation built into it. For whole-show automation control, technical design and drafting, and bespoke mechanical kit, that is TSA's Production Engineering team - and rigging and soft goods are available around the build through the TSA group. Either way, you deal with one team.
