Prop Fabrication - bespoke theatrical props and sculpture built in-house by TSA's scenic workshop, from clay sculpting and silicone moulds to fibreglass and epoxy casting and scenic finishes, made to convince at close range and survive a touring run
From clay, to mould, to stage.
Bespoke theatrical props and sculpture, built in-house by the workshop. Clay sculpting, silicone moulds, fibreglass and epoxy casting, scenic finishes and hard coating - made to impress at close audience range and finished to survive the tour.
Sculpted, moulded,
cast and finished.
Prop fabrication is the workshop's prop and sculpture line - clay through to scenic finish, all under one roof. Each area is a craft in its own right, run by the sculptors, mould-makers and scenic finishers who build the piece end to end. The same craft line builds custom furniture and light fixtures where the design calls for them.

Built in-house,
finished by hand.
Prop Fabrication is the workshop's prop and sculpture line - 30+ years of clay sculpting, silicone moulding, fibreglassing, epoxy and scenic finishes, and large props in polystyrene, with practical electronics integrated where the script needs them. From a single hand-sculpted hero piece to a run of repeatable casts, the same crew takes it from clay to stage-ready.
Props are built to hold up at close audience proximity and to survive a high-cycle touring run, not a single opening night. It is bespoke, craft-led fabrication, engineered to tour, and it sits inside the wider Sets, Scenery & Props workshop - so scenery, set electrics and load-in-ready handover come around it, and the same sculpture and prop work runs under the Show Works name, now a TSA-owned brand, on the Show Works site. Every hero piece still starts as clay under someone's thumbs, and 30+ years of moulding and casting is what keeps the last cast off the mould looking like the first.
Four jobs, one team.
The full prop line,
clay to stage-ready.
Prop fabrication is not a single technique. It is a workshop that can sculpt, mould, cast, finish and wire a piece in-house - so the prop you brief is the prop that loads in, built for close-range scrutiny and for touring.
One hero piece, or a run cast for consistency.
A single, bespoke prop or sculpture - the form sculpted in clay, moulded, cast and scenic-finished, with practical electronics where the script calls for them, built to reward a close look. Or a run of repeatable props off a shared mould - consistent casts and finishes across the quantities a production needs, each one durable enough to tour, venue after venue.
Props are one part of the workshop. Whole-show automation control, technical design & drafting and bespoke mechanical kit sit with Production Engineering, and scenery, set electrics and load-in-ready handover come from the wider Sets, Scenery & Props team around them - in-house, concept to strike.
Sculpted, cast
and toured.
The same prop line - sculpt, mould, cast, finish - has built hero pieces, runs of practical props and immersive scenic detail for productions that are inspected from the front row, then toured.
